A Service for Advent with Carols

December 19, 2010

The Anglican Use Community of Washington, DC, performed ‘A Service for Advent with Carols’ in the Abbey church this afternoon. Following the order of the Book of Common Prayer the service consisted of six scripture readings and the proclamation of the beginning of St. Mark’s gospel, interspersed with familiar carols sung by the schola and the congregation. The schola also sang a capella or with organ accompaniment polyphonic works by Palestrina, Ralph V. Williams, and anonymous 15th and 16th century composers.

The Anglican Use Community of Washington, DC, and Northern Virginia is dedicated to building an Anglican Use Catholic parish for the DC area. For further information visit the community's website.
