Memorial Mass for Claudia C. Baskin, Oblate, OSB

December 4, 2013 (dec. 10/22/2013)

Paul ChappellAbbot James celebrated the memorial Mass for Claudia, a long-time friend of our monastic community, and especially of Abbot Alban Boultwood (dec.). He was the one who first invited her to vespers at the Abbey, and soon after she asked to be instructed along with her daughters in the Catholic faith. Abbot Alban did that and confirmed them at their reception into the church. Attending the Mass were several members of the monastic community, her daughters Courtenay, Melinda (from Florida), and Mary Caroline, husbands and some of the grandchildren along with one of her caretakers and some of her oblate friends. At the reception that followed in the Fort Augustus Room, generously provisioned by the family, they and the monks and guests shared their cherished memories of Claudia. She is commended to God’s care and will be fondly remembered. May she rest in peace.
